Mollie Lorine Lester Matney, 73, of Panther, WV, passed away peacefully on the 12th of May, 2022, at her home following a short illness.
Mollie Lorine Lester Matney, was born a few minutes after midnight on December 26, 1948, the daughter of the late Ferguson Lester and Florence Mullins Lester Tester. She was a loving housewife, dedicated CNA and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Freelan Matney Sr.; her grandparents, Noah and Belvia Lester, William Mullins and Tellie Whitt Mullins Jones; father-in-law, Dewey Matney; mother-in-law, Eddie Branham Matney; one sister-in-law, Emilou Lester, three brothers-in-law, Luther “Lucky” Lester, Ira Mose Lester, and Johnny Guinn, and a nephew Adam Lester.
Those left to cherish her memory are her five children, Roger and wife Tammy Matney of Whitewood, VA, Carol Justice of Hurley, VA, Randall and wife Elsie Matney of Panther, WV, Christine and husband Randy Justice of Asheboro, NC, and Freelan Jr. and wife Tina Matney of Paynesville, WV; two brothers, Roy (Adeleen) Lester of Panther, WV and Tommy Lester of Midway, GA; two sisters, Wanda Lou Lester Guinn of Jacksonville, TX and Glenna (Nellie Marie) Ronnie Bullins of Marion, VA; four sisters-in-law, Adeleen Lester, Jerlene Lester, Maxine Lauderback and Lorine Bailey; and five brothers-in-law, Elbert, Lindsey, Gathern, Jonathan and James Matney. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Kevin(Kayla) Matney, Kayla (Anthony) Justice, Sandra (Chris) Casey, Molly (Chris) Willard, Danielle Matney, Samantha (Will) Gibson, Angel (Shawn) Owens, Bradley Justice, Maranda Justice, Hannah Matney and Aaron Matney; 10 great grandchildren, Hailey Matney, Anthony McCoy, Colton Matney, Kaylee Duty, Emma Willard, Madison Jenkins, Jacob Duty, Jax Willard, Vada Gibson, and Charlee Gibson; an uncle, Fleming Mullins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and addition family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, the 16th of May 2022, at 1 o’clock with Elder Roy Lester, Elder Danny Hurley, Elder Iven Blankenship, Elder Danny McCoy and Elder Fred Bailey officiating at the Panther Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Panther, WV. Burial will follow in the Dewey Matney Cemetery on Trace Fork Road near Panther, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends
Friends may visit with the family Saturday the 14th of May 2022 and all day Sunday, the 15th of May 2022 at the Panther Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Panther, WV. Evening services will be conducted each evening at 7 p.m.
