Please join us for The Love In Action Community event on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at National Guard Armory, 600 Stewart Street, Welch, WV.
“God has blessed us to be a blessing to others. This year, we are once again reaching out to the wonderful people of McDowell County. We are believing God for an even greater outpouring of His Spirit and for the salvation of many,” stated Evangelist Gerald Mayhan.
The event is sponsored by Gerald Mayhan Ministries which offers free food and will be giving away $100 gift cards for gas, TVs, bicycles, backpacks, school supplies, clothes, laptops/tablets, gift cards, and more. Hot dogs and beverages will be served. Everything is FREE! There will also be children and teen activities as well as music.
Mayhan stated, “Gerald Mayhan Ministries is a global evangelistic outreach birthed out of love for and in obedience to Jesus Christ. We are committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in love, encouraging new believers to become a part of a local church so that they may mature in their Christian walk, conducting street meetings to reach the lost (homeless, drug addicts, alcoholics) and praying for those with addictions and for their families.”
Mayhan continued, “Everyone is welcome. We encourage every citizen of McDowell County to come to this event.”
According to his website, Mayhan and his wife, Phyllis were married in 1969, and then moved to Washington, D.C. Gerald was drafted into the military and served in Vietnam where he began using drugs that controlled his life for 18 years.
In 1989, he entered the Teen Challenge Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Program where Jesus Christ saved him and delivered him from drug addiction. He has been free from his addiction for 32 years. Gerald has received his credentials through the Assemblies of God.
In spite of all the places he has preached, “Street Ministry” remains his priority. Each year, he holds numerous street meetings in Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia, as well as many other cities all over the country where many souls have been saved. In September 2002, Evangelist Mayhan headed up the Alexandria Convoy of Hope (COH). This outreach touched over 7,300 people, 1,109 salvations, 1,189 volunteers, 54 churches participated, and 72,000 lbs. of free food given away. In August 2003, Evangelist Mayhan headed his second COH in Washington, DC. This COH ministered to over 6,500 people, 1,200 salvations, 1,600 volunteers, 109 churches participated, 86,000 lbs. of free food given away.
Mayhan formerly served as Prison Coordinator for a year with the Teen Challenge Ministry. Since 1993, he has been involved in the prison ministry in Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, in Alderson, WV, the West Indies, Jamaica and New Mexico.
When Mayhan is not preaching in the prisons, he is holding revivals and camp meetings in the Washington Metropolitan Area, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Connecticut, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, New Mexico, California, Arizona, Utah and Oregon. He was also blessed to preach in Israel, Antigua, Dominica, St. Lucia, Jamaica, and Bahamas in the West Indies; Ghana, West Africa; Cape Town, South Africa, and Mbabane, Swaziland.
For the last 10 years (2010-2019), Evangelist Mayhan and Phyllis have held an annual free community event, Love in Action–West Virginia, in their hometown of McDowell County, West Virginia. Each year, the Mayhans bless the community with free groceries, backpacks filled with school supplies, clothing, household items, and giveaways such as cameras, laptops and tablets.
