Curtis E. Hicks Jr (Scooter) & Jessica Love-Hicks of Capels would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Miss Emily Lynn Hicks of Welch, to Mr. Brandon Kyle McCoy of Iaeger.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Delores Harman and the late Thomas Harman of Welch, Cynthia Sirbaugh of Welch and the late Curtis E Hicks of Capels. She has one brother, Justin Hicks, also of Capels.
Emily, a 2015 Mount View High School graduate, received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Special Education from Bluefield State University and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Concord University. Emily is currently an employee of McDowell County Schools, teaching 5th grade at Kimball Elementary. In addition, Emily is continuing her education with Fairmont State University, pursuing a second Master’s degree, which she will complete in the Spring of 2023.
The groom-to-be is the son of Ruby and Kyle McCoy of Iaeger and grandson of Irma and the late Frank McCoy of Iaeger and Phyllis and Mac Coleman and the late Sam Horn of Long Pole.
Brandon, a 2011 River View High School graduate, received his Associates degree in Radiologic Technology from Bluefield State University and is currently employed by Carillion Hospital. In addition, he is pursuing a Bachelors in Imaging Science (CT) Degree through Bluefield State University, which he will complete in the Spring of 2023.
The lovely couple, who were engaged during an April trip to Disney World, are planning a “Magical” wedding ceremony that will take place October 21, 2023 at Lake Stephens near Beckley.
