Marian Elizabeth (Martin) “Aunt Tootsie” Matthews, 64, of Fairmont formerly of Welch, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Tygart Center at Fairmont Campus in Fairmont. She was born May 29, 1958, at Doctors Memorial Hospital, Welsh, WV to the late Mary (Martin) Law and her stepfather, Phalanders Law. 

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, James Matthews, a sister, Janice (Martin) Sierra, a nephew, Andre De’Sean Sierra, a niece, Rena Thirkill, and a sister-in-law, Betty (Aultman) Thirkill. 

Marian (Aunt Tootsie) was a Christian by faith and had her personal relationship with the Lord. She often attended St. James Baptist Church when she resided in Welch, WV. After moving to Fairmont, WV she loved to stream the Sunday Service of Agape Life Ministries. She loved hard, always doing what she could to help everyone especially family. She loved to cook and bake. She would always cook big meals and feed everyone that stopped by. She loved to have fun spending time with family and friends whether it was cooking on the grill on a nice day or Holidays. 

Marian is survived by her brother, Maurice Thirkill of Oxon Hill, MD; her sister, Patricia Martin of Fairmont; her niece, Ta-Tisha Law of Fairmont; her nephew, Terrence (Robin) Hayes of Fairmont; her great nieces and nephews, Sierra martin Tarran Boda, Janissa Hayes, Kyra James and Carese (Nathan) Niezgoda and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Per her request, Marian will be cremated. 

Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Minister Phyllis Clay, officiating.
